April 10 is Sibling Day!

Today is National Siblings Day! Claudia A. Evart, President and Founder of this day, initiated National Sibling Day after the tragic deaths of her brother and sister. Make it a day to cherish and appreciate your siblings. If you don't have any, you can make it a day about family. Make a family tree, so kids can understand family relationships - brothers, sister, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, etc. |

You can do this on fancy scrapbooking paper, or just plain old paper! Print out photographs of each family member. Start with your child and siblings (if any) at the bottom, and then go up a level for parents. For little kids, just focus on up to grandparents (or great-grandparents if still alive), then cousins and aunts and uncles. Idea: Since we lived away from family, when my children were younger, I laminated small photos of each family member and put a magnet on the back and stuck them on the frig. That way, they would at least be somewhat familiar of their family! |
